    Membership Level Information

Regular Members.  Membership is defined as those persons who are actively engaged in the profession of Human Resources management at the exempt or non-exempt level.

Associate I Members.  Membership is defined as those persons who are actively engaged in non-profit or governmental education/training fields or other agencies that provide Human Resources related services.

Associate II Members. Membership is defined as those persons who do not meet the Regular or Associate I Member requirements, (i.e. staffing services, consultants, attorneys and other vendors whose firms represent the interest of management solely) and are members of SHRM.    The number of Associate II Members from the same company will be limited to two (2).  Solicitation will not be allowed at monthly meetings and individuals must maintain their membership in SHRM.  Associate II memberships will comprise no more than 15% of the Chapter’s total membership.

Student Members. Membership is defined as those persons who are students majoring in human resources or related fields and/or members of a Student Chapter affiliated with the Chapter. Where no Student Chapter exists, students may join as individuals as long as they have a Chapter member as a sponsor.  Student members may not vote or hold office. In the event that Student Membership increases to more than 10% of total membership, a Student Chapter may be formed at the request of the Board of Directors.  Should this occur, Student Members would automatically be transferred to the Student Chapter and would be invited to attend regular membership meetings on a semi-annual basis as scheduled, or as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors.

Retired Members.  Membership is defined as those persons who are former Regular, Associate I members, or past Presidents who have retired from the positions making them eligible for membership in the Chapter.

Special Provisions.  Any member who serves at least a one-year term as President of the Chapter may continue membership even if he/she does not continue to meet the membership requirements listed above except   where such membership would pose a conflict of interest against the Chapter’s purpose.
